So the film festival called Del Corazon, which began in El Paso is now crossing over to Juarez as well. This Thursday(30) at 6:30 the series of short films will be shown at the COLEF (Colegio de la Frontera Norte, 3708 Insurgentes. The next night the shorts will be shown at the San Carlos Building at 501 Texas Avenue beginning at 7.
Of course as this is the last week of the month, Thursday will also be “Last Thursday art walk” in both El Paso and Juarez.
I should also mention that a number of Downtown restaurants and coffeehouses along with connected boutiques (like those in The Mix) in El Paso decided to have a last Saturday fest as well designed specifically for them. So this event known for some reason as The Melt will also be happening this Saturday. Nobody seems to understand why this name was chosen. Perhaps they were thinking of Patty melts, perhaps they meant meld or perhaps it is some sort of acronym like Make Edibles Tasty and Light or More Eateries to Like. In any case, I’ve heard good things about it, and if you were thinking of staying home Thursday or Saturday don’t. Go enjoy.-david sokolec
