First of all I want to thank Rainey at Glasstire for including BorderArt dialogue on their blog list.
As usual everything seems to be happening on the same day and at the same time-in this case Thursday night.
The focus talk at EPMA is on the Robert Motherwell piece in the Blake to Kahlo exhibition. It will be given by the Museum School Coordinator Marie Livingston. As always this is free and starts at 12:15.
Ruben Center: Namita Wiggers, Curator of the Museum of Contemporary Craft in Portland Oregon will give a lecture in conjunction with the Equilibrium:Body As Site show.
For those driving, the Ruben Center parking lot is temporarily closed, but visitors should go to the new UTEP garage and go to the north 5th level.
Mexican Consulate in El Paso is having a reception for well-known painter Veronica Leiton and poet Elsa Cross. This is at 6:30 pm and is in honor of the XlV Congresso de Literatura Mexicana Contemporanea which is going on at UTEP from the 5-7th.
Unfortunately for some of us, this also conflicts with the Siglo D’Oro festival which is going on on both sides of the border. It costs you money in El Paso and is free in Juarez. This year there are groups from the Canary Islands, Spain and Mexico City. In addition there will be various musical performances in the lobby in Juarez at the University Cultural Center, where most of the shows will be held, as well as photographs by Luis Pegut.
That’s all I have right now, though I am sure there is more. -David Sokolec
