A note that two photographers have just opened an exhibit at the Community gallery space in City Hall on the first floor. Ruben Olveras is showing Huellas Digitales and Fernando Villella is showing what he calles panoramic paintings in photos.
I am unfamiliar with Villela’s work, but Olvera has had exhibits at museums on both sides of the border, as well as in Germany. His photos of worn away walls look more like painting than photography, and are well worth spending some time over. They are more explorations of texture and surface than portrayals of the specific object.
The show, which just opened yesterday, will be up through Jan 2.-david sokolec
